Borderline Events is the new name in Downhill Race organisation......

We are proud to announce our first race at Moelfre 18/19th October.......

Borderline Events has tweaked the usual format in attempt to make the racing closer and to be a little different to the norm.....

Being the end of the season and with some great evening entertainment being planned form a big fire, Music, Bar and a bit of something special too in the pipeline this will make it the end of season finale!!!

With some great sponsors on board providing some great prizes already and more to come this will be an event not to be missed....

.....and with possibly your last chance to gain B.C. points you should get this in your diary and get your entry sent off.....

If this goes well Guys & Girls then of course there will be more to come in '09....

I'm currently looking into new venues - there are two more in the pipeline that have never been raced on before and are looking good.

Download an entry form and on it there is the price for just sunday... its 30quid

Coolcool! Used to race last year and to be fair 50quid to ride your bike down a hill...

I know it's pretty expensive, I would say stuff like " Well you spend X amount on you bike" But i'll focus on the postives.

-You get to race your friends
-You can see how your riding matches up against other riders
-You get to ride your bike ALOT at Moelfre without having to push back up
-It's a weekend away, In the middle of North Wales riding with 299 other like minded people.
-You get the thrill and adrenaline buzz of racing against the clock.

I could ramble on all night, but it's your choice, If you think it's too expensive - Fair enough, Just don't race.

On the saturday practice will there be marshalls on both tracks...??????

This is the format ( I hope i've got this right) The saturday will be just like a regular uplift day, So no marshals will be officially needed. 

There will however be Marshals on the Sunday on the chosen track, which we shall be recruiting nearer to the event.

How about riding marshels on the Saturday guys?

I'd be up for doing a marshall, i live there so riding it is pretty boring, i've got 2 motorbikes aswell if you need?

think i will be doing this.  Wanted to have a play on this track.

I'm entered in for this, it was hard not to!

Props to the organizers, the set up sounds brilliant, and a lot of thought and planning must have gone in to it. And the unique race format etc is a nice change from the usual.
I don't think anything can go wrong with the weekend by the sounds of it!  :D

Although the 'armour is compulsory for under 18's' rule is a bit of a bummer. I don't wear armour at the moment, bit like Sam Hill  ;) :D, but I guess its for the best.

Any other hardtailers entered in?

No Marshals on sat at all but the likely format will be 1 track open at once - say in either 2 hour slots or 4 hours slots.

As the organiser I don't have to have marshals on the sat but I do have a duty of care and this will be closing one track off at a time....

Can some one tell me how many places are left please or is it full?

I don't mind really. I have been meaning to get some for a while now, and now i have a reason

I will also be reviewing the age limit to what it is set...... I will be talking to roger Wilbraham in the coming weeks.

Its just a puzzled think...

As i never wear (upper) armour, it could be a bit of a bugger...

BUT, it is a good idea, but alot of people don't have full armour...

makes sense to me to wear armer.

reduces risk of injury, meaning less chance of someone needing major attention, meaning the runs wont be delayed or cancelled.

I very rarely wear it to be honest.  the only time I tend to is when Im racing.

The armour rule is only for those under 18.

Which will apply to about 70% entering :D .

are you sure about this whole no marshals thing on saturday, seems very dangerous, for all riders and also with the road crossing timing riders and tractors can be a very dodgy thing if ni organised properly

I think on the practice day, this is my opinion ( not that of Borderline events) We'd have 3 marshals on track, just to keep practice running smooth. Then probably a few designated riding marshals, Going down last of every tractor load, To make sure nobody dies to badly. Aswell as insuring the uplifts are loaded properly. I think that would work quite well.

But Moelfre is pretty open track, So it's easy to keep an eye out.

from expericance races that ive been to that have had marshals on both days have run smoother . but as you say moelfre is open and you will be able to watch most off it .

Stacking uplifts need's to be watched. and jst one riding marshall for each track...

I have made a decision.....

For those providing a marshall for the Sunday - those riders will then pay £30 for the weekend.  Please pm me with requests - I will take 8 marshals for starters


As for marshals - we'll see for the Saturday..... also to clarify - there will only be one track open at a time.

This will assist to safety - and assure no one will be crossing paths.

I will be around the bottom of the track on the Saturday - my Dad, Bro and his Mrs. will be doing sign-on..... and generally keeping an eye out at the bottom....

We'll also be in touch via 'walkie talkies'

I have had over 100 riders on uplift weekends before and managed to keep the running sweet on my own so with a few extra bodies around on the saturday I'm sure we'll be fine.

If I need a further marshal or two for the Sat I will let you all know and sort them out.

Have only just seen this topic and am thinking of entering. Are there still places available? and will it be a good introductory race, I've never raced before but have always wanted to give it a go!  ;D

How quickly is this filling up? Would i be safe leaving it til the end of august to enter? (money shortage  :-[)

I can give you a marshall for sunday, and as a rider would be after the saturday uplift too...

SY10 was the nearest I could find.
If you find it on google maps or whatever, then you can see the track. It's a bit north east of the village, not by much though.

haha.... Well I currently have The Edge Cycleworks looking at having a large screen playing DVD's and also a bar....

I'm yet to send off my application for a bar of which will be done on Monday but in theory there will be a marquee that will have a profector playing dvd's and a bar selling beer....

Cans of beer will be in the £1 region per can and all proceeds will be going to Wlesh Air Ambulance...... My aim is to handover £500 to them.....but I may need some assistance in drinking some beer to get this done.....

My only worry is having enough crates of beer......  ???

Any one know if the track head in a South South-Westerly direction by any chance?  :D

any wind effects this track, even if it feels still @ the bottom, it can still be windy as fook ;) @ the NPS there this year most pple were running cut-down spikes, and u need 2 carry a LOT of speed if the single trach section is windy, cause if it is u can pedal as hard as u can, and the average speed it still about 5mph  :-\
