but they are not........ how about a downtube.... thats less than 1/2 a cm thick??????

They've been making BMX frames since the 80's like that, something tells me if it hasn't caught on by now.....

Yeah was gonna say, it's old news...

The theory being that the downtube is under tension so therefore can be substituted with a wire. Don't fancy it myself, mainly because you can't guarentee it will stay in that condition at all times.

So they've sacrficed a downtube and it still weighs 5lbs.......yet there are bikes with downtubes which weigh sub 5lbs....

Plus that thing does look horrible, who here would actually like to be seen riding that?

Mmmm, good point.  Could be handy though for knocking up impromptu cheese sarnies on the hill if you came across a discarded hunk of cheddar and a back of baps.

I think it'd make a nice road bike, but that cable's only good under tension and on a mountainbike, with severe braking forces, there's not gonna be a whole lot of tension, meaning you're relying on that flexible bit between your legs to hold the bike together. Lovely.

kinda lame i feel as they had to rediculy over size the other tubes and if you fell off probs cut ur leg of  ::)

Yeah, been around a while that has, should have gone the same way as magnesium frames by now.
