Title: bike stand Post by: Downhiller13 on July 23, 2008, 22:09:01 PM o.k. i am looking to have one of those stands that you see at races which is pretty much a pole suported at each end, on which you hook you bike by th saddle.
i know that there is one on CRC but it costs £250. but i cant find anyone else who makes them would i be best off hunting around for an engineering firm to knock me one up? or does anyone sell them quite cheap? james Title: Re: bike stand Post by: Trail_Rat on July 23, 2008, 22:13:05 PM made one outa scaffolding poles , but then you might not have them about , i did

is it to hold just one bike. if so then bl*ody pointless imo. if its for one frame youd be better of buying the stands with 2 legs and a vertical pole and a clamp on the top. something like this.... (http://c3.pinkbike.com/photo/2269/pbpic2269615.jpg) (http://c3.pinkbike.com/photo/2269/pbpic2269636.jpg) it has all the adjustable height and adjustable clamp thats needed. sorry if ive gone and changed the subject.... thanks anyway Sam [Edit] made one outa scaffolding poles , but then you might not have them about , i did i have a few, but was/is yours foldable/colapseable as it prety much has to be :D and very foldable, becomes very small and compact once folded up Title: Re: bike stand Post by: Miffy on July 23, 2008, 22:17:00 PM Its gotta be pretty much the easiest thing ever to make!?
One of those items that makes you wonder why people ever by them. You starting a race team? Or just gonna hang one bike of it while you're by the car having a sandwich? Hairy muff I'd say £20 tops if you don't already have materials for it. £220 is mental for what's essentially two collapsable A-frames and a pole! I'm gonna sort myself a rollout awning to bolt onto my roof bars for wet days at the races. Changing tyres in the snow at cannock was not pleasant! Changing tyres in the snow at cannock was not pleasant! be carefull in very wet, the water tends to gather on the edge of the awning and then suddenly pour off covering some unsuspecting person walking past :D Title: Re: bike stand Post by: Miffy on July 23, 2008, 22:45:08 PM ...something blatantly obvious to an intelligent designer. Won't be happening to mine ;)
