IH totally has the right to build bikes and sell them through 3-31-09. I think I've made that pretty clear in the past. The 3/31 date was originally intended to give IH a little breathing room for selling through 2008 stock etc.., but it's all good with me either way. If they want to update spec and graphics and sell some '09 bikes, that's in their power for sure. IH is a class act and I have no doubt that they intend to do the best things that they can for their business.

i think that pretty much confirms the rumour of where the DW link is going. This bike will be huge with the void in the market left by the sunday.

Er you guys are a bit slow on the uptake, DW pulled out of Ironhorse months ago, they're going to some other company (can't remember who as it's a small brand) but it definitely is NOT Giant.

The Maestro linkage has been compared to the DW link for years, this is just business as usual...

What's up with the saddle on that thing?  It's been castrated!

Top tube looks existin glory as does the back end. The down tube looks like a beefed up Reign.

As for the suspension... they have moved the base pivot for the shock inwards a lot from the old one that recessed into the down tube.....doesn't necassarily infringe on DW link patent because of this though.

One thing...It looks a hell of a lot lighter than the existing Glory!

How would that reduce weight? It might lower the centre of gravity a bit, but not much. I think it might appear lighter at first glance because the tubing looks like it's been marginally slimmed down. There's no weigh (excuse the pun  ;D) of telling until they get the scales out though...

I was under the impression the Glory was to remain largely unchanged for 09..... could this not be a 2010 prototype?

What i heard was that it was giant who will have the DW link. Ibis already license it and IH will use it until spring next year.

This bike would substantiate the rumour as the glory was close to a sunday anyway, but this is almost identical.

just because it looks similair, it doesn't mean it infringes on the DW link licence.

Go on dwlink.com and you will see it's not about how it looks but ithe patent is to do with ratios and distances etc.

in my eyes , it looks almost the same as the "old looking" maestro system , just looks like its been slightly refined and moved .

hopefully giant will have droped some weight off the frame . 10lbs for frame and shock would be nice

ive seen photos of new 09 glorys but in the simalar shape  as previous models maybe this new one is a complete new model?

and i hope they keep the price tag off the current glory

New glory is seriously tempting. Very ironhorse sunday. Ill see if i can find some due dates of giant over the next week!

i think it looks quite alot like the new trek session 88... there are alot of companies that seem to be styling their bikes like the sunday too.

ibis already had the dw link license so surely it will go to someone else in 09? hopefully a company who make a dh bike !  :D

One thing though with that linkage, the lower rocker revolves around the bottom of the shock. It doesnt on a dw link such as on the sunday. So its obviously not DW anyway to go along with what mr dw has said anyway.

The thing is, Giant must know those shots have gone out and the new Glory is due soon. It strikes me as commercial suicide to leak shots of the '10 bike just before they try to launch the '09...

That'd make sense, although they have never done it for me in the past. Their twin toptube hardtail just upsets me.

Its interesting to read dw's comments on ridemonkey. He doesn't sound happy about the Giant.

He complains that they're a big multi national company and he's just a one man business, and that they're stealing his paycheck. Surely with his design and patent he could become a big selling bike company himself as his design is so good (Evil)? Look how popular his bikes are made by other companies (IH)....

Anyway there are differences between the Giant and the Sunday/DW Link. The first one I noticed was the different pivot placements in the top link.. Anyway alot of bikes these days seem to be settling on similar looking designs.

Oh yeah Paul I've read that, I'm aware of the subtleties. That is kind of my point. Even though they look similar, there will be subtle differences. Hence the Giant is not actually a DW-link.

I wouldn't be surprised if it actually, technically is a DW-link. I haven't looked over the patents personally 'cause I really cba, but the impression I get is that the definition of the design is quite broad.

Besides, regardless whether it is or isn't, it's still a blatant case of the little guy getting screwed over by a huge company. So what if the pivot points are slightly repositioned? It's still essentially the same and really isn't fair. :-\

DW says himself, in the RideMonkey thread, the differences are sod-all. Hence his annoyance. Although that's not a conversation I want to get into as I have sympathy for him, but I'm considering calling my local Giant dealership... Hence I'm a massive f'ing hypocrite. Although in my own defence, I can't afford the £700 price difference between a Glory and a Sunday with the rent I'm paying here in central London... Anway, I digress.

Oh sure it is a pretty audacious copy, blatantly. Respect and sympathy to DW, but it's all healthy competition as I see it.

Imagine if someone patented the single pivot...!

Personally i see it all as natural bicycle evolution. A good design will prevail.
