Title: Ancillotti Questions
Post by: atx_matt on July 26, 2008, 22:15:33 PM
Couple of questions for you knowledgable folk.

* How much would a service on the shock cost?

* How much is a new spring?

* Where is the best place to get it serviced and buy a new spring?

* Should there be two sets of two small holes on the down tube (2mm diameter - about 15mm apart -     one pair near headtube, one near BB - all on driveside)

* What ISIS BB would people recommend that fits?

Thanks loads in advnce.

As an example, a Fox Vanilla R service from TF Tuned is £70 and custom valving would be £15 extra (parts are extra).

Normal springs you can get from around £30. Ti ones, depending on quality, from around £120 depending on length and weight etc.

ISIS BB wise, Crank Brothers (aka Crap Brothers) make quite a reasonable one which has some nice external sealing.

Shocks MUST be serviced by Ancillotti.  I've only heard bad things of other people touching them and am lead to believe most will refuse too?  Speak to Bill at Ancillotti UK (persevere, he does exist!) about servicing and springs.

The holes in the downtube should be filled by rivets holding cable guides onto the frame!

Couldn't tell you what length bb.  Bill would be your best source of information.  Lotti's can be quite specific from year to year as they tweak the design for optimum performance without much compromise for ease of service/application of parts!  Speak to Bill and have a pen and paper ready for his barage of knowledge and wisdom.

Most of all, GET TO KNOW YOUR BIKE!!!

Ancillotti do like a trade in where you send your old shock off and they send you a nice freshly serviced one, from memory I think it is £30.

Orge.

Got in touch with Albert Ancillotti and the shock is currently winging its way to Italy to be serviced and get a new spring. 60 Euro and 30 Euros respectively, not too bad when compared to TFTuned. Had no response from Ancillotti UK, and Alberto was more than helpful!

Think I will just use a normal ISIS and turn down the flange to make it fit, came with a 118 square taper, so guna give 118 ISIS a go and take it from there.
