sorry guys just got anoyed when i seen more minus karma , sorry for the rant and messing up the thread ;)

Until your karma score looks like a cricket score, worry not. Really. Less and less people are bothering to give karma these days anyway, so it means even less. I have some thoughts on the matter, but here and now is not the time or the place (start a thread on SDH stuff board if you have thoughts, I shall later if I get time).

i didn't know random people could give good or bad karma :-\ i thought only mods gave it when they felt the need.

me two , if thats the case , how do i give another member plus karma he helped me out with bottom bracket sizes on my new bike ?

The godorators (sp?) dished it out to a select, respected and trusted few, if it was given to everyone the system woud have been obscenely abused.

From what I have seen/noticed, it's the 'immortals', a couple of the mtb companies and obviously the mods that have the ability to smite/applaud.

I thought that, thats why i was a bit confused ::)

Was gonna say, it's as if the people replying to this thread have not watched the video and taken anything on-board. The guy's voice got a bit annoying after a while did it not? just me?

Oh and in response, IF karma "rights" as it were, had been given out to all members we would probably be in an 'NSMB' situation, if anyones been on that site recently youll know what i mean.  :D

Most of the points of that video are adhered to on this forum, but a few of the forum members could do with sticking to some of them. For example, i always see uninteresting/generic/unfunny/one-liners in the spangly kit section amounting to no more than: 'sweet ride' or 'lush bike!' I dont know, is it just me?!?!

Ok. That’s it. I give up. I will not post again on this forum. From now on I will only post on Specific Downhill Event Boards ONLY if I have questions.

The moderators have failed. They have failed to make this forum worth anyone’s time, you cannot any longer say anything unless you agree with everyone who can give karma. If you disagree, first you will get a lot of negative karma and then your comment will be deleted.
This forum is now something between ebay and pinkbike, fun at first but pointless unless you are part of the system.

All I did is say that that video does not apply to everyone with negative karma. And the title of this topic puts me in the category of people described in the video which is misleading. In return I get more negative karma and my posts deleted, which is not fair.

This forum will soon be something like second mbuk and pinkbike with a blend of ebay.

Have fun.
Feel free to give me more negative karma and delete my posts.

I tend to go against peoples opinions sometimes, it makes for a good discussion, and so far i have a clean sheet!

No need to disown yourself from the forum, there are a lot of people on here with much worse karma scores than you. A forum should be a fun pastime and not something to lose sleep over.

I'm pretty sure those various posts were deleted to prevent yet more petty arguments on a subject that reoccurs all the time.

And I don't understand how you feel this forum is not worth anyones time. If I'm honest its the only mtb forum that I have ever stayed a member of for more than a few months.

Its not mods who give karma (though they can) its about 400 other member that can, how many do I have never looked. Why people give +ve or -ve karma is up to them, we don't ask for it to be justified. Karma exists because lots of people asked for it. It was against the better judgement of the admins at the time, but the people spoke. Its a simple as that.

Wow, that's some statement. Let me just take it apart a bit in order to reply properly.

Firstly, you are welcome to post to any boards you wish, no moderator will stop you unless you are breaking the rules. No opinion is worth more than another (except to individuals who will weight the person in their own mind) and we do not censor the forum in order to give any specific view.

As to the use of karma by individuals, it is up to the individual. If they want it give -vie just 'cos someone disagrees, that's up to them. If they want to give +ve 'cos they agree or the person is a mate, again, it is their decision. We can't moderate how karma is used unless their is an obvious abuse (which there has been and it was dealt with). Don't forget as I said in my post above, karma was enabled because people asked for it to be enabled, not because the admins wanted it. We can not help that it works you up so, we can only remind you that in the grand scheme of things it counts for nothing. You yourself can only judge the value of your contribution to this forum. You yourself choose to take things as personally as you do.

If you want to make a case for karma being changed or disabled please do. You should be aware of the appropriate place to do that in a none ranting style (please).
