Title: Broken tibia plateau
Post by: biscuit on August 01, 2008, 11:05:33 AM
I broke my tibia plateau (that's the top of the tibia where it forms part of the knee joint) 10 weeks ago. I had a plate put in and have been wearing a hinged split ever since. Hopefully I will be able to put weight on my leg soon but has anyone else had this misfortune and did their leg get back to 'normal' for riding?

Bit of a late reply but yes, I did the same thing.
I have a plate in and lots of lovely screws.

I can ride pretty normally now, its been just over a year. its actually walking I have issues with but if I fall off and come down hard on the leg, it still hurts like hell. I am supposed to be having the plate out at some point and I am expecting the pain to subside significantly when this happens. As it is, I have a big lump at the top of my leg from the screws/plate which I frequently knock on low tables etc. Ouch!

Its near 6 months since you did yours, how you getting on? (if you are still knocking about this forum that is...)

That picture looks familiar, I think you may have a couple more screws. I am getting my plate removed at the end of jan. Hopefully it will be better after that.
I did a ride the day before yesterday and managed to get up some pretty steep stuff which I would have struggled on before the break, so it's getting there.
Hurts like hell now though!
