Title: Very dumb question? Post by: Who? on August 09, 2008, 01:43:49 AM Ok this will sound super stupid but..
I have a Nikon D40 and I cant shoot at night, its that simple. Some nice advice on shooting landscapes etc at night. Sorry for the stupidity. Tom Title: Re: Very dumb question? Post by: Jeff_R_King on August 09, 2008, 07:11:50 AM Cameras need light, there isn't much at night. ;)
Long Exposure. You need something to rest the camera on something, ideally a tripod, so it doesn't move, then set your shutter speed to a couple of seconds or more depending on how dark it is. You could also increase the ISO as that will increase the brightness, but you'll get more noise (speckles) in your pictures. If you can't see where you're walking it's probably a bit late. Post by: English bay photography on August 09, 2008, 07:29:36 AM If it is to dark at night to shoot and the camera cant focus take a torch, pre focus on the subject and the put it onto manual focus. If it is that dark have a good sturdy tripod or brick wall for your camera and dont be afraid of having an exposure of 2,3 or more minutes on bulb also a good way to get star trails. Hope this helps
