Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Robington on August 12, 2008, 19:03:46 PM good luck, let us know how you get on as i want to build one myself thanks buddy, i like it when people show some support... :) I dont know how we are going to strap ourselves in. Thinking about using an old rucksack and then putting it on really tightly, then tying the rope to the hook on the top of it? :S Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Paul INITT ;] on August 12, 2008, 19:04:27 PM tryed building one, didnt go well ::)

good day haha paul Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Robington on August 12, 2008, 19:20:43 PM haa... stupid gypsys....

Paul Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: McMuffin on August 12, 2008, 19:24:41 PM dont use a rucksack it will snap under your weight
i remeber trying to build a zip wire with a belt then a rucksack with some mates however both snapped under the weight id use rope and padding as shown in the video or on youtube there is one guy using an old tyre and a pillow which looks easy to make Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Robington on August 12, 2008, 19:31:54 PM sorry but thats just funny...
i guess they probably will... if we get it up and running i will try get my mate to get some videos, and some sssllooooowwwww-mmmoooo videos too :) they're awesome Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: jammie654 on August 12, 2008, 21:51:42 PM Use a Proper harness!

Otherwise you may end upw ith some serious injuries!! we dont have a porper harness, arent they quite dear? Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: jammie654 on August 13, 2008, 11:52:37 AM Not if you get a second hand one.
Ebay is your best bet at getting a cheap one Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Robington on August 13, 2008, 14:02:34 PM we attempted it. it was pretty painful, dug into us :/
Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: iainc92 on August 13, 2008, 14:12:37 PM We made one in our neighbours barn in France. It does get really painful even with a very padded rope. Anyway heres a wee vid

Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: iainc92 on August 13, 2008, 15:49:57 PM Nicked the tow rope out the car and made some loops in it. Bubble wrapped the loops.

Anyway heres a wee vid http://www.pinkbike.com/video/32727#top (http://www.pinkbike.com/video/32727#top) nice video mate, wish mine was as successful! we tried making loops, but we didnt have any padding and that really hurt. but!... then we went back to mind and got a tyre and inner tube and that worked quite well but it kept falling down to our waist. I blame our site for our failure.... or maybe the fact we tried using 30lb jump bikes... xD Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: Scott on August 15, 2008, 10:21:08 AM Don't use a proper harness. I made one last night and if you use a proper harness it lifts you up from the wrong position and thus makes it very difficult. Just use loops of rope wrapped in pipe lagging!
I tied it 40 foot up a tree, thank god I live next to the park, swings seem to be insanely difficult hehe. Title: Re: Bike Swing Post by: AMetalSlug on August 17, 2008, 23:04:31 PM Haha good stuff guys.
The harness is the biggest problem it seems for everyone. Ours is "alright" now we have taped a couple of cushions and jumpers to it but it still digs in after a while. What tricks has everyone got dialled? Almost got 5s :), its a right laugh. |
