Whats going on with the guys arm on the left of photo number 31? Title: Re: New portolio Post by: Biscuit Fuelled on August 14, 2008, 03:27:22 AM I'm not going to comment on your photos, I'm too tired, but from a brief scan through, I'll say this:
You need to have bigger photos - small photos conceal softness, missed focus etc. Big images have nothing to hide, and you want to leave people that view a portfolio with NO doubt over whether you're a technically proficient photographer. We all have images that we don't like viewing big because they're not that sharp, or the high ISO noise is horrible, but they're nice small ('almost' shots); if you think that, the same can be said for any photographer or editor looking at your stuff. This is advice that I've been given by a staff photographer for a big name magazine, outwith the bike industry, but it is true. Big images = better. Title: Re: New portolio Post by: miniJim on August 14, 2008, 09:58:02 AM Seems the flash gallery thing is pixelating your images.. quite badly on the one of Barel. I'd suggest splitting it up into sports/people etc, I was scrolling through the gallery (albeit backwards) then I came to a picture of a donkey! Confused me a little but maybe thats because i've only seen bike photos from you.
Title: Re: New portolio Post by: gingerninja76 on August 14, 2008, 10:18:48 AM your right about hiding softness and noise but i dont think putting big photographs online would help much. big pictures are cool but they take longer to open, upload and some screens wont fit an image bigger than 600 x 800pixs. no one will be judging your technical ability that much on line. you would need something a bit better than a 600 x 800 72dpi image to judge his technical ability i would think. i wouldnt think you would get anyone giving you work only seeing a web site, they want hard copies or 50mb tiffs.
just my thoughts. dom Title: Re: New portolio Post by: Milky on August 14, 2008, 12:09:34 PM i think big photos is a good idea as i always want otehr people photos to be a bit bigger as i like to see them at a good size. as for the pixelating that isnt pixelating its just lightroom has sharpened then loads on exporting the gallery which has screwed them up royaly. and if anyone wants stupidly large files then just ask haha
Title: Re: New portolio Post by: Biscuit Fuelled on August 15, 2008, 02:40:06 AM http://millki.sitesled.com/web%20gallery%20portfolio%20large/index.html That's better!
