Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Miffy on August 20, 2008, 21:53:32 PM Look like Marzocchi Z1 or Z3 QR20s.
Great forks Smithy Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Gonch on August 20, 2008, 21:58:06 PM nicks old forks... original dirt jumpers mate..
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Pip on August 20, 2008, 22:01:25 PM Agreed, its something like a 03 Z1 QR20 (but I think the crown is wrong) or a 04 Z1 wedge (which im pretty sure did have that crown). They aint dirt jumpers. The 2002 ones had the older flat style crown and after that they went to the beefy M-crown which is pretty much the same as they are now.

guy asks a simple question. 4 different answers, so now even if one of them is right, how is he supposed to know which. How about a new rule. If you don't know for defo, keep quiet!! Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Miffy on August 20, 2008, 22:13:03 PM Think he was referring to them being the DJ's of their day
I'm diggin the Kujo tyre myself. Always thought they looked awesome. Where they good DH performers? I was a trials rider at that time and ran them on the back where they were fantastic. Ie saying something that wasnt true but stating as a fact. I thought that was a very good rule TBH.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Gonch on August 20, 2008, 22:32:00 PM dirt jumpers. end off. i picked the decals off. ask Shaun [deadsailer], they were his originally, he will confirm.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Scott on August 20, 2008, 22:34:38 PM Thanks for all the answers guys and some good points raised. Just before I advertise the bike I want the spec right so I'd just like to narrow it down a bit more.
At least we know they are definitely Dirt Jumpers, now I know they were originally Shauns so I will pester him for information! Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Miffy on August 20, 2008, 22:42:09 PM dirt jumpers. end off. i picked the decals off. ask Shaun [deadsailer], they were his originally, he will confirm. Really? The earliest DJs I can find are 2003 on Marzocchi archives which have the smoothly blended legs. These lowers are more like the 2001-> Z1/Z3 lowers with a 2003 crown? Plus DJs had the QR20 clamps on the bottom of the lowers under the axle. Just curious as these look more like the v early QR20s, before the DJs emerged?. Were they OEM or something? Smithy Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: dooge69 on August 20, 2008, 23:57:38 PM personal recommendation is they are early MX pro's, with different legs. Holes in the top of the crown right? Lockout on left leg and around 80mm of travel. Email the pic to Windwave and see what they say...
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: [Al] on August 21, 2008, 11:23:16 AM I always though that the brake bosses were needed for structural integrity on those forks... ???
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Gonch on August 21, 2008, 11:26:08 AM I always though that the brake bosses were needed for structural integrity on those forks... ??? they are... the brake bosses clamp the lowers to the crown. and yes they were oem forks. Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Daddy Snoops on August 21, 2008, 11:32:23 AM Yeah they are DJ's before the steel ones came out :)
Cant belive that thing is still alive! We had some good times on that hey Scott! Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Scott on August 21, 2008, 16:04:46 PM No idea what/who removed the brake bosses. I'm just going to list them as Early Dirtjumpers, QR20 Axle.
Are we saying that nobody knows what they are? I'm not fussed just can't seem to determine anything definate from this thread. Shaun do you know what they are orther than DJ's? Damn things! Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Daddy Snoops on August 21, 2008, 16:20:30 PM DJ 1's dude. Was then they first came out there was 1's and 2's, the 1's had 20mm and the 2's QR. Must be like 02 or 03.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Wassell on August 22, 2008, 14:55:21 PM definatly 2001/2 DJ1 lowers, but 04 Z1 wedge uppers i believe. the DJ had the sharper edged crown, not the rounded smooth one fitted to yours. im guessing who ever owned them once damaged the uppers or the steerer was too short?
dont ride those forks without the brake bolts either, or they will seperate as a friend of mine discovered haha. Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Gonch on August 22, 2008, 16:08:04 PM HAHA too late.. Nick took them out ages ago... ive been lookin forward to the day when they would do that.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Scott on August 23, 2008, 10:14:51 AM I honestly can't fathom why somebody would remove them bolts?!
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Screech. on August 23, 2008, 10:20:55 AM yep early dj1s, think rob has a set very similar.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Devans on August 23, 2008, 10:58:27 AM 2002 Dirt Jumper 1 lowers with 2003 wedge crown it's deffo an 03 crown you can see the black adjuster knobs on top. Looks like a mismatch lmao.
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: DaveB on August 23, 2008, 21:10:11 PM Looks like 2001 Z1 MCR QR20s to me... But then I'm wrong!
Title: Re: What are these forks?! Post by: Pomaz on August 24, 2008, 09:51:46 AM stop with the suggestions to what they are lol we have already established they are dirt jumper one lowers with a possible new crown
