Hi, I have a halo combat.. and very time i ride it the wheel gets stiffer and stiffer till eventually it hardly spins at all, making riding very difficult..  :-[

Could it just need greasing up a bit or could it be something more serious like the bearings being kaput?
I'm not to good with hubs and stuff so i haven't taken it apart yet, but slightly undoing the hub is how i make it run fine again.. for a while!

sounds like bearings, what hub is it? they might be unsealed bearings in the hub which would make them very easy to change, so let us know what hub it is

Its the stock hub on a combat.. im not sure what it is, but it has no writing on it, if that helps?

Just open them up and wack in a load of degreaser, wash out, then a load of grease. Jobs a good 'un

if the bearings are gone they will need replacing but its not hard, just whip out the axle in the hub, you should be able to see the bearings, just whip them out go to the nearest store that sells bearing and get some new ones the same size

My had this happen on his shimano hub, and it actually crushed the race inside the hub. They were 4yrs old though it's probably not the same.. just thought it might be helpful, also do the work asap! or it might cost you a bombload

What do you mean by undoing the hub?

It sounds like your cones aren't adjusted properly and are being tightened by the wheel spinning...crushing the bearings.  This is assuming the Diatech hub still runs cones like it used to.
