Kinda late know to ask your opinion but meh , if any one has had any of these what are they like on loose gravel and mud/wet mud and roots. The tracks here are mainly like that so...

Ive been looking at those WTB and the Continental tyres. heres the "vertical" http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18862 http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20vertical.shtml Also read a small bit about the Hutchinson Barracuda, this seems hard to find and quite expensive. Too big/tall casing for their weight so flex alot. Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: Fingerbike on October 11, 2008, 16:53:56 PM Cannockjake, are you American?

Barracuda's arn't that bad, but by no means good, the ones i had on my bike, had silly thin side walls and punctured every 5 seconds, grip wise the compound seemed hard, and they seemed to work well out back, though you couldn't properly rag it on the back else you'd get a puncture. Am I being stupid or does the tread patter look similar to swampy's? Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: Fire_munki on October 11, 2008, 17:26:20 PM I've got verticals on my bike. Not gonna buy them again. They might well have grip over roots and the like but they sure as hell don't inspire confidence.
Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: Conqueror on October 12, 2008, 11:49:14 AM Hah cheers for the info.. guess verticals are a no go then...
Any opinions on Maxxis Advantage Michelin All Terrain Nokian Gazza All Mountain Continental Gravity cheers Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: dooge69 on October 12, 2008, 14:47:41 PM considered 2.35 High rollers? Light, fast, pretty grippy too. I run one of those up front (I did run one on the rear but kept getting pinch punctures) and it was pretty good.
Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: Conqueror on October 19, 2008, 20:29:24 PM Im still mulling...
How about: Maxxis Larsen TT FR 2.35 Single Ply MaxxPro 60a + High Roller 2.35 front or Michelin Expert Mountain Xtreme 2.2 rear + Michelin Mountain All-Terrain Reinforced 2.35 ta Title: Re: What are your views on these tires. Post by: experiment on October 19, 2008, 21:52:14 PM My Verticals have been brilliant. Taken them down Inners and Fort William, and only had 3 punctures in total, and they could have been prevented with a DH tube. At Inners they were better than the Minions that a friend was running, so much so that I was only a few seconds slower than him (him being on a Yeti DH9 and me on a Giant STP).
