Right well a little update.

From them moving my knee they reckon both cruciate ligaments are bust (very rear he says), but defo one. Got to have a M.R. scan to confirm this. The procedure to fix my knee will be removing muscle from my thigh and using key hole surgery dill a hole in my knee and put the muscle in. Then loads of physio.

But there is a good thing from today, I am aloud to drive woop woop.

Well had my MRI scan 2 weeks ago and still nothing back from the consultant about a date to see him. This is a piss take!

Yes after ringing him every day he got the results back yesterday, but its 6 months to see the consultant! Just rang up to go private, 9am Friday result. So hopefully will have this op in the new year. Roll on 2008 when I can do something!

Ok, as shaun seems to 'think' he is giving up riding i would like to start the "shaun cant stop riding becasue he is a legend petition". As i know he will be greatly missed from the riding scene if he does. Ridign days just would not be the same with out him and his sausage sandwichs!

Well just got back from the hospital . Need new ACL and PCL cruciate ligaments and the ones on the outside of my knee. 12+ month till I can ride again and the op will prob be in Feb/March. And if i wanted to go private its £10-£15K!!!!!!!

Title: Re: Dislocated knee
Post by: konaguy49 on December 15, 2006, 11:24:46 AM
And if you quit riding you will regret it so much, If you seel your bike put the money in an isa until you are ready to ride again. you will possibly have enough then to buy a new model and still have the latest kit. £10-15k is a rather broad figure to quote, sounds a bit like car insurers. I might be investing in life insurence now or similar to cover the costs of such things

Title: Re: Dislocated knee

Just going to go on the NHS. For the time I am saving on the waiting list for private its not worth the money.

For the time waiting on the NHS wont the injury either worsen itself or create more complications? Robotic leg FTW

I have been on it since 18th September so a few more month are not going to do much damage.

ouch man (only if i was quaillifed now i could do it)

just to be picky ACL stands for anterior cruciate ligament so u dont need the cruiate ligament bit after the ACL he he sorry to be a arse

and thaught u had done the collateral ligamnets aswell, you done both the medial and lateral?

really sorry to her about it mate, hope you get it all sorted?

Title: Re: Dislocated knee

Erm Nick I dont have a clue. Its the ones on the outermost of my left knee. For them they are using ligament out of my right knee and putting it in as w triangle. Does that make more sence to you

Title: Re: Dislocated knee
Post by: dirtdemon on December 15, 2006, 22:01:05 PM
yer, they can use ligaments in the arm, but your stil young keeing all the range on motion is vital so thats why they are using the knee and leg

sound slike the lateral collateral

Still no letter from the NHS giving me a date for my bloody op, getting royaly pi**ed off now.

Network Rail sent me for a medical as they thought I was screwing them over, and the BUPA Doc was a bell end. I came out worse than I went in.

Anyway I have found out its the ACL/PCL/PLC/LCL.

Anyone work for NHS please drop some words lol ;)

Right finally got though to his secutary and to be told im on the waiting list of 26 weeks and I have been on 10 weeks.

So when the consultant told me Feb - March he was lying and may be made redundant at this rate.

pi**ed off is an understatement

Well here it is, 1 year down the line. Knee is still broken'ish, still having heavy physio and can only bend it 90 degrees.

Saw the consultant the other week, may need another op on something else in there to do with ligaments :/. Think its screwed royaly.
