Looking for advice
« on: April 23, 2007, 17:34:19 PM »

Basically, i broke my collarbone nearly 2 months ago. Doctors said it will be 3 months before i can ride again. But i have been speaking to other riding buddies who have broke their collarbones in the past and they all started riding after 2 months.

Now my brake wasnt a bad one compared to some (was just a clean brake in half). I have been riding my hardtail all day on saturday just on roads, nothing demanding. And last night i went down the local woods for three hours on my demo, did one or two small jumps and just on the fast tracks.

What i want to know is, do you think i will be ready to start getting back onto the DH tracks yet? When i have been riding this weekend, it hasnt hurt apart from one occasion where i tried to do a wheelie Roll Eyes

sorry for the long post, but wanted to make sure i told you the total situation to get the best answers. Cheers.

ok, i had a similar break to you, mine just snapped in one place... i was told only about 5 weeks till it would be rideable.. lol yer right, i boke it about july time last summer.. i started lightly.. and i mean ligtly riding around september... and i properly got back into it about octoberish... but i found it ached after long rides. to be honest i would rather be safe than sorry and take it easy for a couple more weeks,  if you can try and do some press- ups to strengthen the area... that should help. but you know when it hurts.. so if you feel andy aches or pains.. stop.. you dont want to do your self damge.

hope that helps!!

yeah, i think im going to go to Mnt Ash on saturday and just see how it goes, not going to even try and push myself, then if it starts to ache i can stop riding.
