BIKEHUT SIGNS UP FOR WORLDS
Organisers of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World
Championships at Fort William, announced today (22 May 2007) that
Halfords Bikehut, the UK's biggest bike retailer, have signed up as a
Presenting Partner for the event. The 'Worlds in Fort William' will
attract up to 700 competitors and up to 40,000 spectators from across
the globe to one of the world's premier mountain biking venues.
Halfords Bikehut will be the official retail and cycle maintenance
partner. As part of their commitment to increasing participation in
cycling, they will also promote cycle access at the event, together
with offering a range of free bike maintenance services to spectators
at a specially created secure bike park.
The Worlds at Fort William will also receive a huge boost from
Halfords Bikehut as part of the partnership deal, through in-store
exposure and promotions across 428 branches nationwide, where their
range of performance mountain bikes and accessories (Kona,
Diamondback, Saracen, GT and Carrera) continues to expand.
Mike Jardine from Rare Management, organisers of the 2007 UCI
Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships at Fort William said,
'We're really pleased to have the UK's number one bike retailer
supporting the World Championships. As well as the promotion of the
World Championships in all of their nationwide outlets they will be
the key partner in developing the event's cycle-friendly credentials
and help define our sustainable transport strategy'.
Halfords Bikehut also sponsors some of the UK's finest young mountain
bikers. With two downhill riders, Jonny Cheetham and Helen Gaskell,
Halfords has two national champions and some of the most photographed
riders in the country as members of the Team Bikehut Race Team. Helen
Gaskell is currently ranked 5th in the world and aims to continue
this excellent performance throughout 2007, with her main goal being
success at the World Championships in September. The team is
sponsored to race in the UK and UCI sanctioned international races in
Europe and North America.
