By the way - I noticed the other day how easy it is to criticise other peoples photos - bit different when you're actually there and doing it - my little rant over
That possibly my favorite. If you did have said remote flash maybe run it on a brighter setting or closer to the rider, however i realise it is a bright day so a flash may not make much difference.

Usless fact no. 342b: A flash at the same settings will be just as bright on a dark cloudy day as it will on a bright sunny day

I should have tried to put the flash closer but hey - I guess I could have put it to the other side of them where it would have been able to light better.
