Dainese pads are pricey but worth it.

My dainese do nothing but annoy me.
Only saves a bit of skin on my knees in a crash- still hurts about the same.
Not especially comfortable when you've worn them a bit, velcro straps come undone, netting rips, they slip down a bit when I pedal- not much but enough to be annoying and the plasticy grippy stuff rubs my leg...

I'd go with knee only- more padding, stay put better and no netting or anything to rip/ shift around.

I get that too! I've just replaced mine and this time I've gone for small ones (they weren't in stock last year so I got medium and had to cut 2 inches off of the bottom) but the velcro strap creases as I ride and tends to pinch a bit!

I have used both 661 knee pads and Troy lee knee pads, i have got to say the troy lee pads are a lot better and are worth the extra money.

I know they're out of your price range, but I recently picked up some Race Face Rally DH pads from CRC for £40 (reduced from £69.99). They're truly awesome. I've been using 661 pads for two years now and have been happy with them, although I found they slipped quite easily.

The Race Face ones don't slip, are more comfortable and offer soooo much more protection.
