i think mynydd du  makes as my top race this year. Good weather, good camp site and a good atmosphere made it a great race. I liked the guy with cowbell at the top of the steep root section, just made go that bit faster.

Cracking race - cheers Jason.  Sorry the few gave the locals a good reason to moan yet again.

Jimmi - fair play for riding with that finger, top marks mate.  Almost matched by my 'wrist protection mincing' that resulted in slow but safe and enjoyable race times.  I assume you & Mark left pretty quickly after your 2nd run?  What time did you do?

Hi Nick how you doing? Me and jimmi came looking for you after his second run but couldnt find you. Mind you we couldnt be arsed to go any further up the track than you and I watched earier in the day. Where did you go?

Dont know about you but I was numb after my second run, but generaly happy with my runs.

Dont know what time jimmi did on his secon run. I think it was about a 5:05.

Excellent venue, awesome track and a great atmosphere! My fave race  yet Grin Cheers Jase!

I was buggered.  Came off at the top, stopped in the roots on the bus stop and had a quick chat to Jack after the bus stop and did a 5.16.  Just rolled down really.  I waited at the finish for 20 mins or so and figured jimmi's finger may have prompted you guys to leave for home so went up to the fireroad to watch.   The speed the quick guys hit that final section was impresive, most just hucked the whole bank.

See you boys @ Gethin on the 15th?

alright nick,

i wish i called it a day after practice mate, managed a 5.09 on my first and only run of the day including a ridiculas off on the last corner but the swelling kicked in before my second run and i just couldnt hold on.........hitting the big chute with one hand on the bar and 1 finger on the front brake made me want my mummy so i scrapped the run and minced down the fire road

my finger dosnt bend so gethin wouldnt be a good idea but im in if my diesel b*tch (mark) is   Tongue

Yeah was awesome. The track was amazing!

I thought the whole weekend was excellent, the camp site was great, the atmosphere was great the finnish arena was like something from Narnia or Lord of the Rings!

One of things I thought made it excellent was the commentating on Sunday, it really was great to hear a new voice (not that we're tired of Jasons!) that was really enthusiastic.

The only bad thing about it was just the attitude of the non-Dragon people in the campsite, one or two were quite cool and were really interested in seeing the racing, however some just took no interest made some massive fires (when it was obvious there was nowhere sensible for fires to be lit) and the mini bikes were just one hellava pain in the arse.
But then these guys I guess were there of their own accord and they certainly wouldn't have checked out the Dragon website before coming.

Its just a shame when I got cornered by a farmer in a van who just looked at me in my full race kit and said sternly 'This is going to the Nationals you know'. At first I thought he meant Caersws Grin then I realised he meant the papers and I thought- crikey thats a bit over the top. I mean when you compare it to say the chaos at the MX Des Nations last year then it pales into insignificance. I guess the locals need to be educated that the majority of the problems weren't with DH racers, it was the combination of people already there and the DH crowd turning up.

Could we have it on a weekend that wasn't a bank holiday- maybe this would help? I guess its a track that needs a rest afterward but I might go some way to aleviating the problems.

Other than that it was the best race weekend Ive done this year, cracking! Such an amazing track!

Yes, camping with a chain saw (and cutting down a live deciduous tree!) is a little OTT if you ask me. I just hope we MTBers don't get the blame for the mess.
