Going back to lopes: I might be being stupid here but isn't mountain cross different to 4x / dual! i thought mountain cross was kind of like mini DH on a 5/6in bike?? if so then that bike looks all right for that sort of stuff!!

Or am i just getting confused and being an idiot??? Undecided
As far as I'm aware (and pretty sure i'm right) mountain cross is just a name coined by Eric Carter I believe (could be wrong there too) to say the same thing as 4x.
Dual is basically 4x, but with 2 riders..

ah right! cool! well whatever the mini dh thingy is called.... that looks like a solid bike for it!!!

Anyone heard any news about who young Tracey Hannah is going to be riding for in 2008? Or is she still going to be launching filing cabinets down hills for Orange again?

Was just flicking through a copy of Dirt and it struck me that her name is not one I've heard mentioned recently.

No i believe that last year she was throwing a bike down the hills which is made by one of the most successful bike companies in terms of international dh results. Whats your beef with orange? We should support something good that comes out of britain, its a rarity these days.

The last I heard from Tracey was that she was struggling to find a proper deal, but that was in December, so hopefully she has something sorted by now.

She was finding it hard to find a deal?? Thats hard to believe. You'd have thought such a promising young rider, who already has big results, would find a team easily. Well, it'll be interesting to see what she's on.

Unfortunately she's a girl, and girls are largely ignored by marketing departments.

You would be suprised how quickly the money drops off, even for the men. People like Peaty and Hill make a lot of money, but there are lots of guys in the top 40 who get nothing more than a free bike.

there are many of the top 40, who don't even get that, they have to pay for their bikes, and all their expenses.

Not looking to start an arguement, but just looking at the rankings I can't see anybody in the top 40 who has to pay for their bike Undecided

no worries,

I suppose it depends if you're looking at the top 40 overall in the UCI rankings, which is very much skewed towards those who can do lots of UCI ranking events, and are therefore the ones who've got the best deals.

or

if you look at the top 40 at a typical world cup, which is just the best riders on the day, regardless of the deals they are on offer.

I know of quite a few UK riders who scored top 40s in the world cup last year who had to pay for their bikes, and I'm sure there are more from other countries.
