hey.
this is probably, the last time i will post on this subject.
I'm getting sick of talking about it to be honest.
i went to see a specialist the other day, he looked at the mri results and said i have slight fissuring of the cartlidge behind the patella.
 Two options
rest -with physio and light exercise.
Artheroscopi to remove any loose cartlidge that 'could' be causing the irritation or pain.
70% chance of success. (is that how you spell success)
I'm going to keep resting it for now until spring, i'm taking all the suppliments etc. and i will think about the surgery in spring.

Anyway thanks to everyone who posted, it's good to talk.

Hope you all have a good new year and here's to a good summer.

Keep riding and look after yourselves!

hey folks.

just an update on the "dodgy knee"
Well its finally sunk in my knee is F**ked.
It will never fix it's self.
That is the opinion of three different ortho surgions.
but there is light at the end of the tunnel,
I bought a book;- Andy Pruitt's complete medical guide for cyclists.
It was like turning on a light. although the book is mainly for roadies a lot of the stuff he says is extremely helpful.
And if like me you think your cycling carear is coming to an end it is invaluable.
Turns out riding uphill with your seat too low all this time and one too many knocks to the same knee is enough too- well... f**k it!
i ride a specialized sx trail. So i went out and bought a new seat post( I cut the old one down) and hey presto! i can ride for a couple of hours no probs, get home get the ice on it . couple of ibuprofen, bish bash bosh.

The truth is i don't know how long it will last, but you only live once and all that.
So;-If your thirty something and want to keep riding till your forty something buy the book!

See ya!
