Sony Hi 8 camera - Crap?

I've been given an old Sony Hi 8 camera - everything seems to work on it - but is it an obselete peice of junk? Also - is it possible to transfer the tapes onto cd or dvd? Cheers

Does it have video connections? If so you need a card to go in you PC to record the video output.

hi your sony hi 8  it is esay  to transfer your footage  then buy  a pinicale av card for your p.c and its then  esay for a round £50  job done

the quality of Hi8 is exactly the same as miniDV.

just in a larger package...there will probably be a firewire port on it somewhere, get a firewire card in your pc and its easy to transfer the footage.

Or get yourself a Dazzle device. It plugs into a USB, and takes an analogue signal from a camcorder or camera, and converts it to digital.

you dont need to, HI8 is already recorded digitally. its the same as DV just on bigger tapes.
