syncros mental magnesium

not cheap but stupidly light and way stronger than DMRs

"wiggle price £102.49"

£100+ for pedals?!... HELL NO!  Roll Eyes

don't get dxs. i bent the axle on mine and madison(distributor) don't do replacements. gash. plus the pins are a bit puny. stick with v12s. tried, tested, strong and grippy and light enough. eastons are also a possibility but are slightly more expensive.

that's my tuppence.

Depends what you ride, obviosly for dh DMR's are too small, but for dirt they feel just the perfect size and arent to big so you can twist your foot easily for mega tables and tweaks etc which are more difficult with bigger gripper pedals.

never understood why people won't pay for good pedals?

its how you put the power into your bike's transmission, and gives you most of the feedback about what the bike is doing

like tires, pedals are often overlooked but arguably one of the most important components!!

the Syncros pedals have awesome warranty and 4 bearings / 1 bushing so no more crappy bearing problems

but yeah watch your shins or calves, i have some nice scars from my Syncros Mental alloy pedals

I understand your point, but I won't pay that much for pedals because;

1) You could make the same point about anything, wheels make you move so buy the best, the frame is the heart of the bike so buy the best, brakes stop you so buy the best. If you thought like that you'd be looking at thousands for a bike.
2) I dare say that in a blind test riding each pedal you couldn't tell the difference between a descent £50-60 set and a super expensive set.

All that and after about two weeks my pedals are usually scuffed to bits, and I'd cry if I'd spent that much on them!

Maybe I'm like that though. It's not just pedals, when I see £70 seatposts or £80 stems I just laugh!

its true its alot of money to spend on just pedals...

but i have found the quality pedals like the Syncros and Easton easily outlast the cheaper pedals, over a long time...

in a blind test you could feel the larger platform and insane grip of the Syncros pedals, but its really long durability in terms of shrugging off rock strikes and bearing life that they win

I use Thompson stems and seatpost, have no problem paying for the best stuff  Wink

The bear traps are slightly better plus they can be a lifesaver if you visit canada on a regular basis where bears a free to roam.

Here's a pic of Easton Flatboys (new) vs. DMR V12's (old)

The pics kind of speak for themselves.

The DMR's were on my DH bike, which hasn't been ridden for 5 months because my foot slipped off it resulting in a snapped ACL.

The Flatboys frankly laugh at the DMR's, they're currently on the XC bike and will be going on the DH bike when I ride it again.

I hope this is a usefull piece of information to anyone who is wondering what pedals to get..

Easton Flatboys Rule!!
