Ti Spring Help...
« on: November 23, 2007, 14:37:37 PM »

I want a Ti Spring for my Giant Glory, i checked mojo website and got an idea of what one i want. However upon checking my spring it says 450x3.25. Mojo dont list a 3.25? Would a 3.00 be ok?

On that note, it would be interesting to see the actual differences between the steel & ti spring weights for these...

Anyone know?

My nuke proof was half the weight of the equivelant steel

If mojo dont do a 3.25 try nukeproof, A 3 inch wont work

well they do sell one as i had one on my dhr. I dont think 3 would be ok if it was a 3 and you ran a 3.25 then ye it would be but it might catch on the inner side.

how bigs the spring on your shock as on my vpfree its well smaller and lighter than the steel originally on the dhr so i havnt bothered getting a ti spring on this bike.

if your getting a ti spring your in it for pimp not weight, personally ive been there once and i know where money can be better spent.

Longest Mojo list is a 3", as is Nuke Proof's...

Rumour has it the Nuke Proof springs come out of the same factory as the more expensive RCS ones anyway!

Keeny, was it a 400x3.25"? I'm trying to find out actual savings, as my pring length is the same as the Titanic (sorry) riders  Grin

If your running a DHX 5.0, the stroke is actually 3.00 but they use a 3.25 standard. Straight from Mojo...

You'll be the first to go unless you think

What is the actual stroke of the shock you have (measure it by hand)?

Your not meant to run a spring that has a shorter stroke length than the shock. If the stroke is 3.5 then im not sure running a 3 inch spring would be advisable?

Have you checked the american ebay? Ones seller always has ti springs for sale on there and i think they work out much cheaper than getting one from over here

http://search.ebay.com/ti-spring_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40

Your bike probably weighs lots cos of all the heavy parts you have on it.

I would be more tempted to replace the cranks/seat/seatpost at least before getting a ti spring.

What wheels are you running, 729? What about lighter rims like 721 or even lighter maybe?

Looks like theres lots of areas to save weight rather than a ti spring.
