Following on from my last post maybe we need to contact the FC about it, perhaps form a club and so on.
Only thing is, i think if we talk to them i reckon we'll get a no and we'll be shut down as they'll have to admit they know about it and cant take a blind eye. Sometimes best to keep quiet.
Any more news on rogate?
Hinheads protected land im supprised its there as it is tbh. Prob best to keep shh about it. I think hinheads harder to ride then rogate and no where near as many jumps so i think most of the kids will stay away

NEWS!! Fresh in today from the Forestry...finally! The final decision was to "thin" our plot at Rogate and not to "Clear fell" this means no replanting and we remain at the old/original side where its always been. The crap everywhere will be gone about 10 days from now and we are safe to return and ride as usual then... Spread the word. The other side will no longer legally be ours to use once the tree mess is gone. also regards the lease... time for renewal in Jan 09 so scratch your heads everybody. I'll be posting about this nearer then but it means discussing what and how we approach the whole affair. Once the place is clean I reckon we're due a timed practice too. Will be in touch all.
I assume now its been felled everyone will get stuck into creating some completely new challenging lines, rather than using the ten year old tracks that as fun as they have been were somewhat stale?
And it would be great to eke out as long a run as possible perhaps?

When i was last up there most of the tracks where fine, just had a free tress across them, most fo the jumps ect where un touched. So is it going to be the standard rogate everyone gos up, does some s**t building and leaves holes everywhere ?
Yet even more tracks corssing the exisiting ones ? As if rogate dosnt have enough tracks as it is ?
Im all for change but at the end of the day theres so much currently up there. It dosnt seem that many people actually put alot of work into building the tracks, more just kicking some dirt into the shape of a berm in the middle of summer and it turning to dust in about 5 minutes

Was there today. Most of the trees above the fire road have been felled, and a thinning of the trees below. Once the logs have been cleared up it will be all good.

We'll I'll be back over xmass for three weeks, I'll have a lot of work to do, though I'd imagine if everything is cleared up there and ready to go I'll be up for putting some serious hours in with the spades.
way i see it, getting into the digging side of things is not gonna be a problem, there would need to be a plan though. A meeting soon on site is in order where we can thrash out a plan, then implement it. Also, of course, we need to form a comittee of sorts for 2009 to be sure we maintain it/ do timed practices regularly/ raise the funds to pay the Forestry.
If we save our efforts till around xmas when people are off work, we can meet with an open mind and take it forward
Saturday 27th DEC meeting? 10.30am (just a suggestion)
I will make sure Portsmouth Uni are present for that, we have a lot of dedicated riders and builders who deffinately want to help get something long and decent at rogate. Rogate is a blast but lacks a serious race track or two, hopefully introducing something will give rogate the much needed push in the right direction.
A few of our members have some timing equipment that im sure could be utilised for practice days.
