Headset Race Insertion?
« on: December 04, 2007, 16:31:20 PM »

QUESTION CHANGED
Hi, i know theres been a few headset Q's lately but i have searched and had no luck. Sorry if this has bee posted before but if it has just lock this and point me in the direction of the thread.

What I want to know is the best way to remove the bearing race, for the lower cup, that is on my steerer tube

How do I push the lower cup's bearing race all the way down the steerer tube? Its about 5mm from the crown at the moment.

Thanks, Lloyd

To get the race right down onto the crown try and find some tubing that fits nice and snuggly over the steerer tube, and tap it from the top. I thiink you can buy a race installer too if you really want to do it properly.

may not be the best thing to do  Roll Eyes but i have, in the past, warmed the race over the hob (not red hot or owt! ) expands it just enough to aid fitment
