you going pro? £1000 is a lot to spend unless you are.

can get some of the new high end consumer camera with high-def for ~£700. look at the panasonic SD5 and canon HV20

xm1 has fixed lens, as does the Xm2.

you want the Xl1 or Xl2 if you want to change the lens.

and they are f'ing huge.....you wont want to be lugging them around with you.

why do you want to change the lens anyway?

Indeed, Jim is right, XM1 and 2 both have the right mounts for attachable lenses but you cant put completely new ones on, not that you'd need to, the lense on them is superb.

XM2 is what I've got and it's a great camera. However I do still say that editing and riding will always make a DVD over how good the quality is. Wink Although having both is obviously a bonus.

Just think long and hard about whether you really want to splash out that much on a camera. Have you thought about editing software as well?

They're not really that bad. Yes they're bigger than an XM1/2, but the quality is awesome. And you always looke more pro with a bigger camera Wink

I've got a Canon HV20 which despite it's small size seriously rocks.
Check out www.hv20.com for some advice and footage examples.

id suggest a sony pd-150  or a pd-170, with ur budget they are a great choice if u can get one, ive been using both these cameras for a while now and they have never let me down. as for software i would definatly take the time to learn to use final cut pro hd on the macs as it is just excelent and it is exactly what they use to edit big time hollywood films. and the cameras are also used for many television and small screen productions. hope this helps
