Totem oil and chain lube
« on: December 11, 2007, 16:19:37 PM »

ok....2 questions

Firstly...i have a pair of totem coils.  The coil side has a leaking seal, and i was wondering if i can use a 10wt oil in the leg, as the oil is only used for lubrication IIRC.......i know its meant to be 15wt oil, but i was just wondering.

Secondly...i use TF2 or GT85 to dispense any water from my chain after a wet ride/ cleaning session.  This however leaves my chain MEGA-oily....

Apart from degreasing my chain....is there anything else i could use to either disperse the water, or remove some of the oil from my chain??

Cheers

it won't lubricate the fork *quite* as well...but its debatable if you would notice a huge difference

the 15wt is more viscious and therefore more "sticky" which means it will spread over the internals a little better

if its leaking, get it checked out..its the start of your Totem troubles  Tongue

cheers rob....

enduroforkseals.com are bringing out totem seals in Jan.....i spoke to Tim @ TF, he sais that the stock ones are prone to leaking......

I hope it's not that start of troubles....mine seem to get better with every ride, and they are an 07 set....so i hope they are more refined than the earlier ones...

thats a problem with 07 Totem seals, if they're new send them back to windwave and get them sorted. The new 08 seals are fine

im sure windwave will send you a letter thanking you for the free totems... might even send you a set of 66's as a swap?
