its about being a proper sport.
its about showing you're good enough to race, and the only way to monitor that is the national ranking points.
and you need a license to get them.
if you want to be a serious racer....... ie race the NPS....... you need a license.
go and try and compete in any other sport and see if you can just rock up.

to be fair i see were your coming from i use to be a quite highly ranked swimmer and i had to be regestered with the asa
it just seems funny that you have to join bc and have a race licence as well why would u join and not have one?
ive had a licence for the last two years...

lots of people who don't race......... do!
membership provides a lot of benefits if you're an average cyclist who commutes.

im so tired i hat having aday job and a night job
