had my 2 bikes stolen last month and my insurance company have told me they only go through wheelies direct and i have had a look on there and there was nothing i liked so how would i get about this and buy a bike i actual like cheers scott
You're entitled to take a cheque for the sum awarded written to a place of your choice, don't accept no for an answer!
I've had to deal with Wheelies before for the same reason and they are the most useless bunch of idiots I've ever had the misfortune to come across. They made a custom build which eventually I lost the rag with them over and told them to send it to me assembled as far as they could, what turned up on my doorstep would make an Argos employee blush, took me an entire night to get it built properly.
In the end the total amount of crap I had to deal with was:
Spokes in rear wheel too long, taco'd within no time at all. Gripshift instead of trigger shift. In order to fit the brake levers they were fitted on the downsweep of the bar. Useful. No seat post supplied. Took about 2 months for that mess to turn up, the parts were ordered and delivered about 2 weeks after the claim. Fannies.
Seriously, don't deal with them whatever you do, even if you lose out on spec by going to a bike shop you may still get good deal (my local was more than willing but it was my dads insurance and he didn't want the "hassle") and it will be a lot less heartache in the long run!

yes wheelies direct are the biggest bunch of c**ts ever!!, i got my mongoose stolen n they were so useless, they cant do a job properly so i seriously recommend not to use them.
cheers for the advice they do seem sh*t has anyone els had any past eperence with them also do insurance companys let you build a bike or do you have to get a factory built bike ?
this company will harass your insurance company all day long till they give you the money to buy the bike you want from the shop you want. (and its free for you. the shop pays a small cut to get the sale) There really good. dont use wheelies
so yes you can have a bike built if thats what you want

when my balfa got knicked, i was told i had to go through wheelies, and as you mentioned, they had nothing similar to what i had, so, i got my 'dragons den' mum on the case and she fought like hell! 9 weeks later, we had a cheque in the post to buy a new bike from a respectable shop.
we've had this before a few times. and we've always ended up doing the insurance company a quote much cheaper than wheelies do, so the insurance company lets us supply the bike. Then you can have what ever you want.

or ring Fetch and they do it all for you and it takes a few days
Legally insurance companies cannot force you to use a particular supplier if they are giving you an option on the items you can have.
You may however end up with a cheque for a lesser ammount than the bike was worth. This is because Wheelies will give the insurance company big discounts to be the exclusive supplier. You are only entitled to a cheque to the value of the quote as supplied by Wheelies. If you choose to use another more expensive supplier then that is down to you & you'll have to cover the difference.
