Dual slalom was all they knew back then, and was great fun.
I raced it at the malvern classic one year, in fact it was the same year that Tracy Mosley won the dual there as a relatively unknown competitor.
The best example of dual slalom was the iron justice series up here in Sheffield, if you could survive the jumps and other crazy stuff on the tracks you were a winner!
I remember building a dual track in a field behind my house one summer, the grass was above head height and we left enough room so you couldn't see the other rider, it was a guessing game right to the bottom to see if you had won.
