they'll be fine for a little while mate my bud had a big hit dh 02 with 110mm on the front for awhile and in all honesty headangle wasnt that bad nor did it ride that bad... you can put the shock in different holes which steepen/slacken it too,

02 Bighits came with 130mm forks, it was the 04 bighit comps that came with 150mm dj3s.

Erm, putting 100mm on a bighit will ruin it, if he just needs to get the bike up and running, then yeah it'll work, but if he wants to use the bike to it's potential, then he will fail!

120MM is a minimum....

Why exactly does he want to do this? Save up for 888s...

It would work even better with centre pull brakes.

02 Bighits came with 130mm forks, it was the 04 bighit comps that came with 150mm dj3s.

02's came as a frame only.
03's possibly came as a frame only as well
04 was the first year they came as full bikes IIRC - one (the red one with the reduced travel rear end which only gave 6.something" travel) came with 150mm DJ2s, one came with Junior Ts and one the top end one came with 888s I think.

Even riding a Big Hit with 8" Manitous, its still gonna ride like crap because they're Manitous...

The red one was '03 i'm sure of it, came with 130mm dirt jumper 2s, called the big hit comp. Then they did the big hit pro i think (or big hit dh?) which was silver with junior ts, must have been '03 too cos im picturing gold stanchions etc.

Thats it, there was an 03 full bike with Junior Ts and a silver frame. Think that was the only full bike that year? The one with the 150mm DJs was definately 04 - 03 DJs were those ones that snapped all the time at the crown with the gold stancions...
