My friends bike has wall filler in it and its stayed in fine. I was to cover where the crown had hit the top tube.

it'll end up under paint as iam cutting off the cable guides & v brake mounts then getting it re painted, i dont want it to fall inside the frame thats all, i'll try straw and polyfiller

bottom of downtube, some bizzare mount thing that ive filed down but its left a hole, there are threads left inside so some filler type stuff would sit in there i reckon

Dont use wall filler (polyfiller) as mentioned above, it'll not last.

You can use Isopon P38 or P40. These are polyester based car body fillers and will do the job fine. P38 is a regular filler and P40 has some glass reinforcement, take your pick. Both available from Halfords.

evo stick hard and fast, great stuff, i know halfords sell it for about 3-5 quid iirc basically you cut a piece off. knead it together till it becomes supple and one solid colour, then press over the hole, leave to harden for 10-20 mins, thensand down excess.

its great stuff, really damn strong, and can be drilled and have a thread tapped into it if needed.

P40 is fibreglass, you use this to bridge holes before using the P38. The P38 (filler) is used to skim over areas which can be sanded to a smooth finish. P38 should only be, at the most, 3mm thick otherwise it can crack.  Wink

Use p38 and dont add too much harderner or it will crack. its better if it take a day to go off and is slightly flexible than to make it too hard.

you can also use the metal epoxy resin fillers that are in grey cylinder form B&Q. but it is hard to file /sand flat. stronger thought!

As above, at minimum bridge it with a fibreglass based filler, then skim over with normal car bodyfiller.

For a proper job weld the hole up then skim with filler.

You can buy Araldite Metal Filler, easy as pie to use (same as any filler) but fries rock hard so you can file it. Used it to plug a hole in my old fiestas oil sump and it worked a treat. About £4 a tube i think it was. And as with filling anything, it'll be ok if you prep it properly.
