Knee 'Clicking' problems
« on: March 08, 2008, 13:17:38 PM »

dont know if its ever been braught up or not but here goes.

(this is mainly for people who have the problem and dont know what it is)

sometimes (not always) when im out biking putting pressure of my (right) knee it clicks every time i use that leg to push down on the pedals.i started to worry alot because sometimes i get a little pain from it as its constant clicking.

so about 6 months of worrying i eventualy went to the GP who couldnt realy do much about it other than to put me on the orthaepics list (which has a long wait) luckily being young i was top of the list if someone couldnt make their appointment which luckily for me happened.

The out come was that its a tiny little grizley bit on the cartilage and its just where a tendon rubs on it and 'clicks' off. now he told me that if i wanted i could have the 'key hole' surgery, but it would eventualy grow back, so there realy wasnt much point. he then also told me that its common for some cyclists and runners to get it so there isnt anything to worry about. just means your somewhat healthier than the average person Grin.

just thought i would share this just incase anyone has the same problem and worries about it. but dont just read this and think every thing will be all fine, because it might be something completely different to what i had. so best to get it checked out for your own benefit anyway, just to be on the safe side.

cheers for having the time to read this.

My doctor was able to tell me that in a couple of minutes about 6 years ago. I got on with things and it's come and gone several times since, doesn't cause any trouble really.

thats exactly where i think mines comes from.....when i was playing footy id got past this guy and he lifted his leg up towards my chest. so as i jumped out the way he caught me and i smashed my knee into the sunbaked ground.

This happened me a few years ago
It is the catilage in your knee, and believe me, it dosent get any better, unless you get the operation, which im getting once I turn 18. It means that my knee is free to move whatever way it wants, because its the cartilage which keeps the knee under control, correct me if im wrong.
I got it from cycling with too low of a saddle (stupid kid  Undecided)
Parts of my knee used to move (as like a dislocation) and it was realy painfull, big large bump used to form, now I just wear a knee brace...

yea you can have keyhole surgery....and apparantly yo can walk a day after and then a couple more days and some steady biking will be possible

Yeah I get clicks every time I crouch down, not so much painful, just doesn't feel quite right! But if it doesn't cause too much hassle then I wouldn't worry about it.

My ankles are pretty bad too, but yet again, no pain, just clicks...
