Commencal Meta 4X
« on: March 11, 2008, 17:57:50 PM »

Hi All

Having owned a Special Projects Yeti 4X for the past 3 years, last year I decided that I should sell the frame and get back on a HT.  I sold the 4X and got an awesome deal on Yeti DJ.  I love the Yeti Dj and it looks spot on, but as Im fast approaching 30, I find that I am getting real bad back pain after spending a day out on it.

So . . . . Im looking at getting another short travel 4X frame, as Ive already owned a Yeti 4X I know I get on with them, but am tempted to try something different, and am looking for any feedback / reviews of the Meta 4X.  How they ride, what sort of weight full builds are, how they compare to other full sus 4x frames like the Yeti or Tazer VPP.  Also how high is the BB?

Please only post if you have ridden one, as I can find all the internet hear say bollocks I want, without people posting it Wink

Rode Gee's at the bike show last year. NOT on a track, but, general opinion:

Very Nippy! Accelerated very quickly.
Mid Height BB - felt comfortable
and a low stand over height - nice amount of control

you up chicksands over the weekend?

Cheers for the info Pat.  I have seen nearly every other short travel full sus 4x bike up at Chicky, but not a Meta 4X.

I will prob be up at Chicksands on Sunday, if the weather is not totally shocking.

Has your Mission 9 arrived yet?,

Cheers Paul

the mission 9 arrives at the end of the month with any luck! i should be up at chicksands both days, also weather depending, which at the moment, looks s**t! but i want to get up there and practice for the national so ill probably see you there!

I would definitely recommend the Meta for a decent, comparable bike to the yeti. Its definitely something different.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking at getting a meta 4X.

What size frames are you guys riding and how tall are you?

Have you condiered the Turner 5 Spot, I know it's not a 4x bike but it can be and I have done so built it up as opne and it was a nimble and nippy little bike, very capable of taking the abuse.

Only sonwside, is I think I built it too light and it became a little uncontrolable when it got a bit rough.

Go for the Meta 4X!!! They never bring many into the country so they're super rare which is why I brought a couple for stock! If you want one let me know. I also have a couple of Absolut 4X's. www.bikeactive.com

Hi Rob.

Is there any difference between the 2008 and 2009 because I really like the superteam colours from 2008 and do you have any of them?

Where are you based and do you have a demo 4x?

Oh god, I've just seen the Orange Blood on your site. Looks like it could be an alternative to the meta 4x.
