Okay everyone, you should all by now have had a chance to digest the news regarding Aston Hill. Judging by the forum activities across a number of sites the return of Aston Hill is eagerly anticipated.

A small committee group was set up a while ago and I have recently joined to get the website up and running as well as provide a little momentum through the press. We would like to thank all the parties including the forestry commission and CTC as well as our growing number of sponsors helping us at this stage.

On the 7th there will, we hope, be a meeting that secures the future of Aston Hill. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome. We also need to raise a certain amount of cash to secure the relevant licenses to proceed with the club. For further information head over to the new website www.rideastonhill.co.uk

All being well we will be open for the summer and who knows a dry version of the classic Aston Hill "bombhole challenge" with BBQ just to kick the season off. In the meantime, if you are in the market for a new bike or simply have "hill withdrawal syndrome", head over on the 6th for the 2008 National Bike Demo Day Series.

Races were one of the key offerings of Aston Hill allowing riders of all levels (even old fools on hardtails like myself to compete, I use the word compete in the loosest sense of the term), and their importance will not be overlooked. At the moment the focus is on sorting out the working structure of the facility and to get it running initially as a venue where we can all ride again. Once this has happened and the trails are bought up scratch will can then look into how individual races or a series of races (as in the past) can be run.

Hopefully i'll be able to make it to the meeting, it'll depend what state im in though, at the moment i cant go anywhere without a painkiller fuelled haze.

Good news though by the sound of it.
