Seeding
« on: April 07, 2008, 12:45:49 PM »

It was a shame (I thought) not to have chainless seeding on saturday.  I was looking forward to having to pump like mad through the top sections to gain speed.  So much so that I almost elected to go chainless anyway.

Personally, if the seeding runs AREN'T going to be chainless (which gave them a fun interesting novelty factor) I'd much rather just have a full day of practice instead.

Yea... was quite bummed that it wasnt chainless? i dont know why? they had chainless at gethin and you practically had the run the entire top section to the switchbacks! Anothing thing which annoyed me was the finish line... What the hell?

Haha, I didn't mind the finish line - quite liked that actually, bit different, keeps you on your toes to the end!

I think we should form an un-official chainless seeding activist group.

At Gethin, Everyone who supports it should take there chain off in protest!

I wonder if Jason would mind people running chainless if they wanted to? I can't see it being a problem...

People were allowed to and did, but I only found at that at the top, and with no pockets I didn't have much of a choice. Also I caught people up anyway so if I had seeded chainless I probably would have caught a few up in my race runs!

I agree that chainless at cwmcarn would have been wicked! however, didnt much enjoy it at Mtn ash and Gethin last year.
I'd quite like a full days practice on Saturday, maybe seed riders on BC points?? or dragon points??

But having said that, its interesting to know where you stand on saturday (time wise) and it did work really well this weekend.  It was exciting with the top spots changing so much right at the end of catagories.

Bit off topic but:
Does anyone know how many people were doing the quarry gap? im interested to know how many of the top 10 riders did it, i dont think i was that much faster!? maybe 2 seconds??  as far as im concerned it was too bigger risk for not a huge reward!?

A lot (well maybe 20 out of the field I guess?) hit the quarry.  The elites here:

what was the difference

Instead of sprinting across the line as normal they had a flat 180° hairpin corner 5m before the lightbeam, so had to scrub all your speed, get round it cleanly, then crank to the line.  Or dismount and run as some chose to.  The funny ones are those who fell off on the hairpin, then dragged/stumbled ith bike across the line Grin
