Pearce cycles summer series, were are the last two races going to be?
« on: April 28, 2008, 08:27:59 AM »

When i phoned eparce cycles, they said the last two rounds are gonna be @ hopton Angry now, hopton is a good track, but three races there in one series? .................................thats kinda dull:( i thought they would be using "some compleatly new" tracks, or maybe they could use caersws, kinnerton, eastridge (not the best, but a bit of varition) maybe moelfre (they said its to far from the midlands, but so is bala...................does anyone know for sure were the last two rounds are gonna be held?

I've also heard Hopton.  It's a shame isn't it, although I believe they are building a completely new track for one of the rounds?

Kinnerton, Pen-y-bont, Radnor, Eastridge, Eastnor(?), the list of previous venues goes on.

Seems a shame that these days they appear to only have bringe/hopton/bala Sad  Doesn't help that Chris Robers "stole" Caersws, but at least we do get races there still, albeit in a different series.

Midlands is by far and away the best organised series I race, it just seems a bit lacking in venues/variety.  Imagine if they lost Bala too!

the 3 diffrent tracks that they are using are hopton are probably better, id day than radnor... ect, so staying at the same venue and using better tracks, rather than having a round somewhere else, just for the sake off having a round somewhere else would be my interpretation of the decision they have made. Although there may be some other logistical reasons behind why they are having 3 rounds there.

yup gotta say, as much as its a shame if it is Hopton for the last rounds, the tracks there are better than the alternatives.  Change for the sake of it, isn't really a good thing.

using either of the other tracks at Hopton is definitely better than going to Kinnerton, or any of the other tracks listed - and I include Molfre in that.

In my book, Bringewood, Hopton and Bala has the makings for a great series.

Even if they do use a couple of the venues (and not tracks) more than once.

If new venues come up that are better, then thats great, but until then - lets stick with what we know is good, and works.

The Pearce family do so much for this sport, that i'm more than happy for them to do whatever is easiest for them.

They'll get my money, no questions asked.

Oh aye, I'll be entering them all come May 1st without a doubt, and coercing everyone I know to do the same Smiley  From what I remember of Kinnerton (rusty, only been once) it was a good track, and Pen-y-Bont too?  Don't remember Radnor at all, don't even know if I've been to Eastnor, and Eastridge is fun (IMHO) but short.

Pearce cycles is the best DH series in the uk IMO I will be there, I been to hopton 3 times now never raced on the same track. Also been to Molfre 3 times all ways used the same track which is ok but you get the point.

there is/was a track there.  But its only good on one day a year.

I was there a couple of years ago on that one day.  No wind, and dry conditions for the previous month.  It was awesome.

But its not really suitable for racing on, cos it gets destroyed if there is even a hint of rain in the air.

plus its not really midlands (not that Bala is), its about another 25mins into North Wales past Bala.

Haha, sorry Chris, I didn't mean any offence, hence the use of the quotey things Smiley  I enjoy your series, and I enjoy Pearce's series, it's all good Grin  I didn't really know the relationship between what used to be MSS & is now Pearce & Caersws Cup, so I improvised.  (Actually I still don't, but it doesn't seem important - we used to have 1 series with more venues, and now we have 2 series with less venues.  Six of one, half a dozen of t'other.)  I apologise, sorry about that.
