Will my frame be ok ?
« on: July 05, 2008, 22:24:45 PM »

Basically my seatpost snapped one day quite a while ago and ive never replaced it.

Anyway, Was out riding in the poring rain with mud everywhere when i realised i had nothing covering where the seatpost would go in.

So theres some water/mud in the frame now (Well i think so, Maybe just a bit down the seat tube)

But im just wondering if it will be alright ? Its an aluminium frame so it shouldnt rust.

Will it do any damage or be a problem ?

Thanks

you should have some drain holes these will let some of the water out, the s**t will probably collect in the bottom of the post/bb shell so that can be removed and cleaned out.
wouldnt panic about it tbh.

Oh, So if i was to take my bb out there will be a load of mud and whatever else on the shell as its come through the frame ?

Wont effect the bb at all will it ?

And sorry if what i say sounds silly or i ask stupid questions, Ive just never really seen the inside of a frame and how the drainage you mentioned works. So thats why  Embarrassed

Take the cranks and bb out. Clean the inside of the frame up with gt85 or similar and clean the bb if needed. Re-fit cranks/bb and use goo grease like teflon, copper grease or marine grease.

There shouldn't be any problems
