Yup.  6 to 8 weeks and it was spot on again.  Back on the bike as soon as the cast came off, and no major repurcusions.

I've done both, there's a click in my left wrist now but no pain.

Yeah I broke mine a few years ago...........

Your in plaster for longer than a normal break (6-8 weeks if I remember) as the Scaphoid bone tends to splinter rather break cleanly and there is a risk of it splintering into your artery as they are right next each other.

As for use afterwards I just had the usual weakness and stiffness in the wrist due to lack of movement/use, but was back on the xc bike within a week of the cast being removed.

Was yours obviously broken in the X-Ray? Where was the pain?

Mine took 2 specialists to confirm it was broken and it felt like I had a really badly sprained wrist.

Mine didnt show up in the initial x-ray apparently they often don't, they cast me up because they were pretty certain it was broken.  3 weeks later I went back had it checked and the x-ray showed a break that had opened up but had started to heal.  I was in a cast if i remember rightly for another 4weeks after that.

The last time I did it was 6years ago, so I dont really remember the pain.  I didnt go to hospital straight away though, thought i'd sprained it at first, took 3 or 4 days to get it checked out.

Someone tell me how to take a photo of the X-Rays to post up...

I did something to it about a two weeks ago and it's been pretty tender since. Like sprained tender but it's also not been feeling 'right'.

Went to the Docs today and got some X-Rays, that show no breaks or anything. The Pain in my wrist is very variable. One minute the scaphoid hurts, the next it's the radius and the next it's ligaments or whatever is in there. The Doc was confused.

I'm not getting a cast, hate them with a passion.

I went riding yesterday since the injury with my wrist gaffa taped up and it was fine riding but as soon as I stopped it ballooned a little and that precipitated the Docs this morning.

Just after peoples' stories and that.

I'm happy to man up and ride and race with it, as long as there is no long term damage. I seem to have a high pain threshold.

So yeah, X-Ray picture instructions and blah blah.

Yup , snapped my right one. Had to have surgery to put it right , had a bone graft from my hip and a pin put in - bit of mess according to the surgeon. Half cast for 4 weeks then once the swelling from surgery had gone a full cast for another 4 weeks. Gives me a bit of grief , pain if i bend it a odd way (eg press ups with hand flat) and still got a few movement restrictions. Tricky to Xray i do believe ?

i broke mine, didnt feel too bad at all at first, just swelled up a fair bit. went to the hospital cos the rents made me, i didnt think it was broken and they confirmed it was broke. put it in a cast were it swelled up more and hurt like a bitch. 4 weeks later the cast came off then i had 3 weeks of physio to get movement back in it. still hurts a bit in the cold wet weather but nothing major.
was back on the bike after a week of having the cast off but just riding very gentle to get strength back in my arm. my forearm was half the size of my other one!

i snapped mine clean in 1/2 in france last year..... that was towards end of july...... i went to hospital towards end of jan and they finaly said it was nearly mended.... 8weeks in cast and rest of time in a splint ... rather annoying... some it can be really fussy about healing... mine was almost at the point they were going to remove it and replace it (due to them thinking that the bone is dead)

to be honest i still get pains in my wrist to this day so its really a bugger to break Sad  and i still dont have full flexability of my wrist so i think i may need to go back in lol

hope yours is okay man

cheers

yeah I've done the operation too, bone graft, pin etc- it wasn't much fun.  It works but not the same.  Mine was plainly obvious on the x-ray though, bit messy.

I wouldn't recomend it
