If the break has cut your artery, it can mean blood is no longer going to the scaphoid bone. This means the bone dies, and you lose the use of your thumb. Get it sorted.

Mine was a similar pain to what you described, very variable, pretty bareable to ride with but bad afterwards, hard to pinpoint exactly what hurt.
I rode with a very similar combination of gaffa tape and cheapo supports, then it got worse so i splashed out on a 661 support, then it got worse so i splashed out on fox wrist wrap gloves, then it got a little better untill i wore holes in them, then it got worse.

As much as I want to agree and just say man up, been there done that- it didn't work.
It took over 2 years to diagnose mine as broken after a CAT scan.
I know have about 40% movement and 3 scars to show for it, plus the best part of 2 summers riding ruined.

I'd get at very least a 2nd opinion, you'l feel like a poof going whineing about a sore wrist but its probably worth while.
Mine was never much more than "sore" but it was royally f*cked....

Ive done both of mine, and am in a plaster cast right now for the 2nd time on my left one!
Best way to tell...if your in the bath and put your hands down to push yourself up, it feels like someone is stabbing you from the inside.

Make sense? lol

I came off my bike practicing nose wheelies one day.
Didnt think i could have done anything to bearing in mind that my mate was in a cast at the same time for something similar so i wrote it off as too much of a coincidence at the time, used the if you can bunnyhop it will be alright technique, i could do that but the pain was rather great.
Long story short is that for over 2 years down the line i was still getting pain out of the wrist, it eased up but jarring impacts gave me recurring pain for that time, its only now which must be about 3 years later that they seem pretty fine and up to scratch,
This interferred with my work although it didnt totally stop me working it does appear to have limited the mobility in my wrist. Strangely my mates was pretty much fine when he was out of his cast and it had regained its strength.

I never did get them looked at ( ive done both similar ways) but what i am trying to say is that i would highly reccomend it, pop down to a&e early one morning when its less busy to get them checked.
I know if i ever did something similar again in the future i would.

If it is broken, you can still ride your bike in my DVD with a cast on right? Cheesy

Yeah, but new problem.

My back doesn't line up. Look at the left side of the spine... the bit that is all joined together doesn't line up with the ones that are separate. Oops.

Hi,

Just had my right arm put in cast after suspected sprained wrist turned into fractured radius - which i thought it might have been the Scaphoid.

Glad I went back for 2nd opinion as they didn't pick it up the first time.

Gotta get better for France in 8 weeks -

I just broke my scaphoid at the sda at fort bill, it didnt show up on the x-rays till 2 weeks after.

i did it right at the top just after the new world champ section. The break wouldnt of been that bad, but i got back onto the bike and rode down the rest of the course with the adrenaline rush and all,

turns out i wont be on a bike for 3 1/2 months, i now have to have a scribe for my a-levels and the worst part is i wont be racing the mega avalanche or spending 4 weeks out in france, which was the highlight to my year. It could also have damaged my chances of becoming an officer in the marines...
bad luck? just a little  Embarrassed

I broke mine a couple of years ago and had a screw fitted which meant no plaster so no muscle wastage.
Would recommend it if it is available.
Was back on the bike after a couple weeks after the op and only had to wear a wrist support as a precaution.

Well, Just got back from A&E and turns out i may have broken my left one, though the guy cant see a fracture. So back in two weeks time to see if it is broke or not.
Which is a pain because thats the second day of my work experience, i cant go to glentress either as me and a few friends had planned for a birthday AND i cant work to earn money for a new DH bike  Angry

So im just in a suport at the minute untill they can confirm if its broke or not. Im not taking any chances on the recovery process because if it doesnt heal properly then thats me slightly shafted as i do alot of weight training along with biking aswell as other physical activities.  Sad

Hope everyon who has broke it will be alright, Hope mine isnt though.

Chris

P.S, i bet your not unlucky enough to have broke it only a few days after healing from broken collar bone and ribs  Grin.... Embarrassed
