Mine was a similar pain to what you described, very variable, pretty bareable to ride with but bad afterwards, hard to pinpoint exactly what hurt. I rode with a very similar combination of gaffa tape and cheapo supports, then it got worse so i splashed out on a 661 support, then it got worse so i splashed out on fox wrist wrap gloves, then it got a little better untill i wore holes in them, then it got worse.
As much as I want to agree and just say man up, been there done that- it didn't work. It took over 2 years to diagnose mine as broken after a CAT scan. I know have about 40% movement and 3 scars to show for it, plus the best part of 2 summers riding ruined.
I'd get at very least a 2nd opinion, you'l feel like a poof going whineing about a sore wrist but its probably worth while. Mine was never much more than "sore" but it was royally f*cked....

I just broke my scaphoid at the sda at fort bill, it didnt show up on the x-rays till 2 weeks after. i did it right at the top just after the new world champ section. The break wouldnt of been that bad, but i got back onto the bike and rode down the rest of the course with the adrenaline rush and all, turns out i wont be on a bike for 3 1/2 months, i now have to have a scribe for my a-levels and the worst part is i wont be racing the mega avalanche or spending 4 weeks out in france, which was the highlight to my year. It could also have damaged my chances of becoming an officer in the marines... bad luck? just a little
