I completely agree with him.

It's based on opinion.  I find riders "throwing sick tricks" pretty crap to watch unless they crash.  I'd much rather watch a racer throwing a laid back whip mid race run, ala Bryceland today at Maribor on the top jump before he crashed.

Tricks arent what Im involved in mountain biking for...

Just because you disagree doesnt make it untrue.

Look at the middle picture, Lacondeguy isn't even doing a trick, yet he looks stylish.

I really do disagree with his broad-brush statement that 'all slopestylers have no style', it's just not true.

I bet most of the top lads in slopestyle can throw 'lazy whips' all day long.

Yeah to say the slopestyle boys aren't stylish is a bit.... well just wrong really.
I do kinda agree to a point though, its looks amazing in stills captured at the fully clicked moment like those; I wouldn't take that away from them for a second, yeah its damn impressive and you've gotta admit they do look good.
However, watch a video of those moves and they're probably a bit less fluid, everythings a bit over exaggerated and akward and you can put money on the fact they landed like a sack of sh*te.

I think the low, fast and simple racer style is much more impressive as a rider, i'd rather see someone in 100% control going smooth and fast than someone struggle their way through a bmx trick on a mountainbike.

However going back to the point of to the general public, video or photo the majority are going to be more impressed by someone going so big they can't physically stop themselves biting their bars or pulling such a huge superman they only just get a foot back to the pedal.....

I kind of agree, the slopestlorzzZ do just seem to be huxzorzz. what they're doing is impressive but i just wouldn't say its stylish (with a few exceptions of course). A lot of people can pull big tricks but that doesn't mean they're stylish. When the DMR lot came to our trails they were pulling out the tricks for the photos which probably looked awesome but they couldn't ride for s**t. Well obviously i'm exaggerating but they were really struggling to get through stuff, it was as if they didn't now how to pump and they were just hooking everything up. That is not cool. I prefer the the tricks that jsut move the bike around, tbales whips etc. Leave the letting go of bikes to bmxs, it jsut looks better on small bikes. Thats what i think anyway

The thing is, Basagotia or Lacondeguy could o the most inverted table or most humungast whip, they just wont win comps and wont have money to eat if they do.

I was at the Qashquai thing in the toon last year, it was s**t.  The riders were throwing massive tricks, great.  But it was the most awkward, played out for the audience thing I'ver ever seen in my life.

I dont think those pics you've posted of the guys throwing supermen look great either.  Brilliant from a photographic POV but not my bag.

Hill's the most stylish rider in the world at the moment in my eyes, making the most tech tracks in the world flow beautifully.  I could watch that stuff all day.

I agree, I don't think 'style' sits in just one discipline of this sport. Watching great racers do their thing is a pleasure too. Same with a smooth 4x racer, a flatland rider, a dirt jumper or slopestyle rider.

I was just a little taken back by the statement mentioned earlier.

Racing, watching people pin it through the rock garded at maribor today looked sick. Gonna side with roots on the slopestyle, it's not my cup of tea, A big trick with a bad landing looks s**t, anything pulled off in a properly lazy fashion at a rediculously high speed on the  otherhand will always look mint. What annoys me most is my non riding friends labelling dh as a "s**t" sport "cos slopestly is clearly so much harder.."

i think rootes is totaly right dont get me rong the tricks the slopestyle guys do are brilliant but they get boring and i always find that when they 360 or backlip they dont land it as cleanly as downhiller does doing a moto whip of a hip jump but i down hill so realy im a bit biased towards it lol

lazy style is best in whatever context
ie
if your going fast but it looks like your not trying/bothered throwing in whips on jumps for the fun of it thats cool

if your super smooth on the trails every few jumps a clean x up or turndown etc  is cool

people ride how they want, who cares, some people might want to go and do big drops, some might want to do sam-stylers all day long, does it really matter?

Watch videos, most of the time they pull some insane trick pretty sketch, case the jump then go around high5ing each other saying "gnarrrrrrrrrrrr stoked!"

Its impressive, but it aint style.

Style to me is flow, clearing jumps, making insanely hard stuff look easy.

Going big can be done stylishly.

I find slopestyle riders full of style for example when they pull a huge dump 360. Some stuff is very sketchy such as 360 flip normaly.

Its also really cool to see some one just pull a few whips or tables smoothly especially when racing DH.

I find both equally impressive.  Whatever floats your boat really:)
