Broken Elbow :(
« on: May 13, 2008, 10:01:56 AM »

Yup, so i've finally broken something while riding Tongue Was racing at Gethin last weekend and on my last practice run before racing, i go over the bars on the very last corner and land straight armed (ie i didn't bend my right arm when landing) and now its er broken. I thought it may have just been bruised or strained so went up the top in the back of the dumper truck do do my race run, but then thought maybe not. so off to hospital i went where they said it should be operated on and have a screw in it. But seeing as we were 200 miles from home i came back here and off to hospital yesterday where i was expecting to be operated on, but they said the bone wasn't displaced enough, so its just in a half cast for now. Then off to hospital on next monday to make sure it is healing right, and if not then maybe and operation. I got a cast on for about  6 weeks then he said about 10 weeks before i ride properly again, so when we're out in morzine woop!! Heres the X-ray but you can't really see the break, its on the inside bone of your elbow (on the right in the X-ray), looks like it lopped the top of the bone off Embarrassed...

Welcome to the Crible club !

Doesn't look to nice !!  You and I can now watch races rather than take part Wink Breaking stuff is so s**t. At least with a cast it will heal well as they are quite indestructible and you wont notice little bumps.
Sure it will be orite for france ? And when do your exams finish charlie ? Maybe a cripple xc ride Cheesy ?

hopefully it will be alrite for france, but only just, so i won't be attempting anything too big, the cast will have been of for about 3-4 weeks prior to france so then its just physio and xc rides i guess to get my strength back up in that arm. My last exam is on th 2nd of june so 2 weeks timeish
but the cool thing is that there is no way i can ride dh so i'll be getting the sunday powdercoated, bew bearings and bushings etc. and basically give it a new colour scheme for when i start riding again, get the forks done too cos Gethin savaged them up and theres like no paint on em any more Cheesy

Unlucky charlie!

when i landed with my arm out it snapped my collarbone, so you must have a weak elbow or something!

what colour scheme are you going for?

haha probably true lol, but i was wearing armour with the straps that are spose to prevent broken collar bones so you get broken elbows instead lol.

i was thinking paint the forks white or black with silver boxxer decals, get a white or back e13 lg1 and paint the frame some wack colour like orange or baby blue or tuquoise or yellow, something away from the norm really Grin and leave the rear end white or black

Ahh shite to hear Charlie, Hope you heal up quickly.

You should keep your boxxers Green and spray the rear end of your frame the same colour as them. Then it will be a nice black and green and all match up and be symetrical.
