X-tort Monocoque old skool frames...
« on: May 13, 2008, 19:20:51 PM »

Hi All,

I've decided to bring my old X-tort out of retirement in the cupboard and have got it built up with my old shermans for general DJ/BMX track/4x mess about duties.
Same frame as this: http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/128216/
Can't believe how light and flickable it feels compared to my old steel HT!

I know there were a lot of people who had issues with these frames breaking, but unfortunately I can't find much info about where they were prone to it anymore.

Please let me know what your experiences are of X-torts, and any pictures is possible of any areas I should be keeping an eye on.

Cheers

I love you

X-torts where one of those frames i always wanted when  i was 15. When saracens where considered to be remotley good and we knew no better i always wanted to own one. Hell i still do. We had a massive trials scene where i lived in about 01 and there where a bunch of sponsored riders who used them in blue.

If you build it up you need to have it in red with a tioga dh saddle and tioga cube bar and stem combo to make it classic Smiley

one of my old mates who got me into DH had an X-Tort and built it up really nice. drop off triples, M4's and everything doesn't do so much biking these days. hes teaching kayaking and windsurfing in France and Antigua etc. lucky thing, and he gets a whollop out of it.

Got a red frame hiding under the stairs, and the tioga saddle, and I couldn't give it away last time I put it up on here...

All I remember of it was the head angle with z1's was seriously steep...

Had some good times on that bike though...

God i remember them, the only thing that rivals that frame for its erm individual looks has got to be a gary fisher PHD.... The thing about saracens though, they always look pretty bad but (without wanting to admit it) they ride damn well for what they are!
