Maxxis Ignitor for DH?
« on: May 14, 2008, 21:32:23 PM »

I've looking to get a fast rolling UST rear tyre that grips well for the Mega/Les 2 Alps and came across this LUST ignitor http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=17345

Seen positive comments but not from many who have used them for DH. Anyone used them for DH?

May go for an this on the rear and a minion DHF ST 2.5 on front!

Semi slick HR on the back for the Mega.= with a normal roller, or DH16 on the front, that's what I ran last year.

DH sidewalls for pinch protection, although mine were tubeless...

I used the Michelin equivalent semi slick - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8527

That is UST, and spot on IMO. Either that or normal HR/DH16 with the middle nobs cut down.

I've never used Minions on any bike so cant comment there Smiley

i tried a semi slick kenda short tracker for the mega which has a dh casing and it`s 2.5 but struggled for grip, it just slid when braking, took it off and put a maxxpro high roller on and it felt much more confidence inspiring and still roled quite well.
