Torico 4x track
« on: May 28, 2008, 14:36:36 PM »

Just a quick update on racing and whats going on with the track

As you might be aware we hoped to hold a 4X series this year and to date we have beeen unable to host a race. This was somewhat expected but we thought we would announce the dates anyway at the begining of the year and see what happens
So the status now , is that we want to hold at least one race before the NPS round in AUgust, Im hoping to do this in July
the track is now riding well and there are still some tweeks needed, heres a rundown
Please bear in mind that the track will always evolve and change -its organic maaaan!
its pretty rough but thats how we want it and its gotta to be the longest first straightn in 4X history - the start ramp at over 12 feet high should give you enough spead though!!!
1/ contiued smoothing and picking out of larger stones
2/shaping of first double - possibly needs a bigger kick
3/2nd corner step down needs re-jigging to enable it to be raced - at the moment its such a slow line, no one would take it, it needs to be a challenge but still give the possibility of a passing move
4/ start ramp completition - say no more
5/ hip jump- to be completed
6/ steepening of last but one corner
7/ last corner shaped

heres some other stuff I would like to see developed over time
ROCKS - I want ta vigo section!
roots - I want a gnarly mountain bike track, not a BMX course!

I will also post some headcams of the track when it dries out !

News on the start platform is that we enough timber to complete the first stage platform for the start of berm bandit & the other trails and also finish off the main structure for the 4X start. We're currently waiting for news from the FC ref another uber request for more timber to deck the upper section, but this will take several weeks (at least!) just to get the wheels moving and further few more to get the timber..... other alternatives for the decking are under consideration.

Like everything at the park it's all funded from the money raised at events and the dedication of an army of hard working volunteers who give up there free time when they can - therefore everything takes longer than planned, but we always get there in the end!!

However the 4X course is OPEN so go ride it and have fun (and give us some feed back!!)  Tongue

I'll be going back in with a mini digger between the next dh race and the Dakine Free Uplift.

We'll get those tweaks sorted.....

nice one ali
Ive sorted the corner with the big drop
its now a 4 step nasty corner instead of a big drop
It needs more soil once its dried out and it aint pretty as its all uneven ( to make it harder!) Its now a rideable line instead of a death move
