Hussefelts just always come loose
after about 3 months not very hard use mine started come loose, in about 30mins riding i would have to tighten them

Howitzer stuff is good, hussefelt isnt.

Most people would argue that good quality Square taper cranks and bbs are better than isis. Square just have a bad name because theres lots of cheap crap out there.

The newer truvativ cranks all have external bb's which is called the howitzer, hussefelt is just the name of one of their cranks, as in the arms, not the bb.
There decent cranks for the price as well i had a pair on my norco for ages, never had the problem of them coming loose though a few friends have.

right so my problem is.

i have no or very little money, im hucking pretty big (sorry if i sound big headed) on square taper bb and cranks and the bb is knackered (it wobbles even when really tight)

so do i, buy a new crankset (something like saints or hones)

or buy a good square taper bb ?? something like this http://www.bonthronebikes.co.uk/182-220122

btw im on a hartail

ive always found square taper to be too much trouble than they are worth. If your going to buy some cranks with the intention of a big huck, make sure you get some freeride or preferably downhill cranks.

My brother rode some XC truvativ cranks on his hardtail and snapped the non drive side crank clean in half on a big huck. He was lucky. Read in the injury section on here, some guys crank fell off and he is by no means as lucky. So getting the right one is important

Hussefelt cranks will be fine, good value, run them on my old bike as it came fitted with them.Had no probs apart from them coming loose-fixed by using threadlock to keep them on. If you can afford second hand saints then they will serve you better but if you must go cheap and new the hussefelts will do the job.

they only come loose if they are not set up properly, also with mine i whacked some PTFE tape on the crank bolt thread and they never came loose.

Nope they still come loose when set up properly,my mate had his removed by a decent bike shop,bb faced then refitted by bike shop and they still came loose until he threadlocked his. PTFE tape is another good method of keeping them on.

Good choice.  You'll be better off with those.  Of the friends I have that have owned Hussefelt, they have all come loose - dangerous
