Transferring mini DV to my computer?
« on: June 06, 2008, 22:19:45 PM »

My dad has just come back from a motorbike trip to France and Spain and has about an hour of footage on his mini DV.

He want's to transfer the footage from his mini DV onto my computer so I can do a bit of editing but we can't figure out how. Does anyone know how I would do this?

By the way I'm using Windows.

Thanks, Sam

There might be a way you can do it via usb but if not you can get firewire tape decks which you just put the tape in, open up your editing software then capture it off the tape that way.

Buy firewire.

Plug camera into computer using firewire.

Capture footage.

Don't worry if this all seems a little daunting, even Nasa struggle to get their shuttle launches right every time, so you are not alone in your confusion...
