12 weeks after broken collar bone, help with fitness/strength
« on: June 08, 2008, 20:00:17 PM »

Its been 12 weeks since I broke my collar bone (broke in 4 places) I've done a few uplifts and done some XC since. Altho It feels pretty awesome when riding its clear I've lost loads of strength in my shoulders and arms Sad I can't rag the bike around nearly as much as I could and also my jumping has really suffered! Also I'm kinda struggling with work (I'm a mechanic) my shoulder gets tired really fast. So what exercise would people recommend to help me get my strength back?

Cheers for all the advice.

I did the same, and i was told to get dumbells, and hold them by your side and lift up keeping them close to your body until the dumbell is pretty much under your armpit. It helps a fair bit, but i broke mine about 6 months ago and i still have occasional pain in it!

I lost loads of strength after i was out for 4 months with myn.
You could see my left neck muscles was about 1/2 the size of my right!
I just found that it gained strength through riding but as it got stronger i moved onto light weights and exercises and now it is fine. Use to get pain early on but nothing really now apart from occasional clicking.
